How do I know which league is right for me?

We have 3 leagues to choose from:

  • Our Cucumber League is specifically designed for beginners who have either never played or are still learning how to play.
  • Our Dill Pickler and Pickled Pepper leagues are both ladder leagues specifically designed for players seeking competitive games and are open to all players from beginners to advanced. You’ll be matched with players similar to your skillset, but if you are still struggling with scoring/rules of the game, getting your serves and returns in consistently then we recommend the Cucumber League(Beginners/Learn to Play) instead.
  • The only difference between the Dill Pickler League and the Pickled Pepper league is that the Pickled Pepper league reports scores to DUPR.
  • If you’re new to DUPR, that’s no problem, we will still calibrate matches for you based on your games since DUPR is not reliable until a lot of games have been played.

Can I still sign up if the league is sold out?

Unfortunately, once the league is full, we are unable to accept additional sign-ups. However, you can join our waitlist! If a spot opens up, we’ll notify waitlisted players on a first-come, first-served basis. Simply click the "Join Waitlist" button to stay updated on availability.

What if I know I’m going to miss a game or two, can I still participate?

Yes, no problem. Send us an email (info@yallpickle.com) with the dates you are missing.

Can I play in more than one league?

Yes, you can sign up for as many leagues as you want.

Can I sign up with friends?

Yes and it's more fun that way! Contact us at info@yallpickle.com if you have at least 2 friends that want to sign up and we will send you a discount code. Your four scored games are not guaranteed to be with your friends since you will be placed based on skillset so you can get competitive games, however after the scored games are played, the open play format allows you to mix it up and play with whomever you want.

I can’t find a league near me or at a time that is suitable for my schedule.

We are always looking for more opportunities to expand the pickleball community. Fill in our suggestion survey and we will see what we can do

How do I find out when a new league opens?

Once you register, you will be sent a registration survey that will ask if you’d like your email to be added to our mailing list. If so, we will send out emails whenever our new leagues are posted. We will also post on our Instagram account if you prefer to follow instead: @yallpickle

What happens after I sign up?

We will send you an email with a form that asks a few questions to get a sense of your skillset and collect intro information (i.e. t-shirt size, DUPR ID link if applicable, etc). About a week before your league starts, you’ll be emailed again with some general information and a request to confirm your attendance through your league page. If at any time you have any questions, send us an email at info@yallpickle.com and we will get back to you ASAP.

How are court mates selected so I have games at my skill level?

For the first set of scored games, we will rely on your registration survey inputs. If you are in the Pickled Pepper league (DUPR scored) then we will also consider your DUPR as well. Each week we will gather scores to help us identify placement for the following week. The court assignments will be posted and sent out 1-3 days before your weekly league games, however if there are last minute cancellations, we may require your flexibility if we need to re-calibrate court assignments.

What is the format of the league?

Each week will start and end at the same time ensuring you have a full 2 hours of play.

  • First half hour: League open play across all courts—play with friends or mix it up.
  • Remaining time: Ladder play, where you’re matched based on skill level for competitive games.

What is a “scored game”?

For the first hour, your court will play 6 scored games with each player getting 4 games and 2 bye games. Each scored game is a normal doubles game of Pickleball (play to 11, win by 2, see below for specific details). The results of these games will be reported to your League Leader to be used for court assignments in the following week. For the Pickled Pepper league, the scored games are what will be reported to DUPR.

What is "ladder play"?

You’ll be matched with 4-5 other court mates of similar skill levels, allowing each player to get at least 4 scored games with 1-2 bye games. This allows all players to get a chance to play with each other and adequate rest time.

The 2-3 players with the highest scores in each group of 5-6 move up in the ladder and the 2-3 players with the lowest scores move down in the ladder. The goal is to ensure you get the most well-matched games so moving up or down is not a reflection of winning or losing, but rather a way to help create the most competitive and enjoyable matchups for everyone.

What is “open play”?

After scored games are complete (usually within the first hour) the courts will be open for league players to mix it up and play casually, meaning your scores of Open Play games will not be counted towards your league scoring. Once your court has completed your 6 scored games, you can put your paddle on the rack of any open court to signal that you would like to play. Once that rack is filled with 4 paddles, the players can then take that open court and play a game. When the game is over, the players return their paddles to the rack, waiting for the next open court. This allows for rotating, unstructured play where all skill levels can mix and enjoy the sport recreationally.

What do I need to bring with me each week?

Our venues have food & beverage available for purchase, however we always recommend players to bring a water bottle and hydrate as needed. Most players have their own paddle, but if you don’t have one and need help selecting one, you can email us at info@yallpickle.com.

What if it rains or games are cancelled?

We prioritize safety and will keep an eye on the weather. We will notify you via email as soon as possible if a game has to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Can I stay with the same partner throughout the whole league?

The scored games are ladder style so you would not be able to stay with the same partner, but for Open Play you can put your paddles together and stay together for your games.

How are scores calculated and rankings posted?

Each court will have 5-6 players. Each player will play 4 scored games to 11 points. This allows each player to have 1-2 byes to give you some time to rest and socialize. After each week, you will be ranked based on your total points won (out of a possible 44 points). So, if you win three games and lose one 10-11, you would get 43 points. The three players with the highest scores in each group of 6 move up in the ladder and the three players with the lowest scores move down in the ladder. The goal is to ensure you get the most well-matched games so moving up or down is not a reflection of winning or losing, but rather a way to help create the most competitive and enjoyable matchups for everyone. This system ensures that all players, regardless of skill level, have fun and challenging games each week!

Will I play the whole 2 hour block?

Yes, unlike other leagues that block out 4 hours and assign you a different timeslot each week, you will always have the same times each week and you will get the full two hour block to maximize your playing time. With 5-6 players per court, each player will get at least 4 scored games and 1-2 bye games. With the open play format in the second hour, you can usually play at least another 4 games. Other Racquet Social Club is also giving us wristbands for discounted food and beverage so we encourage you to also use that second hour as you’d like with no pressure to play the whole time.

If I can’t attend, can I find a sub?

Yes, if you do, send us an email (info@yallpickle.com) with their name and contact info so we can get them signed up on the waiver. If you can’t find a sub, no worries, let us know and we will try to find one for you.

What are the rules of the game?

  • Take a look at the official rules HERE.
  • For these leagues we will be in a doubles format using traditional side-out scoring with games to 11, win by 2.

What is a DUPR?

  • DUPR stands for Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating. It's a standardized rating system that measures a player's skill level in pickleball based on their performance in reported games & tournaments.
  • You can read more about how to set up a DUPR account and how their algorithms work HERE.
  • A DUPR is not required in the Cucumber and Dill Picklers leagues. It will be required for the Pickled Pepper league.

How does scoring work?

  • Take a look at the scoring rules HERE.
  • It is important to always say the score (your score, your opponents score, than which server position you are) PRIOR to serving the ball. This helps everyone on the court know what the score is.

What if I’ve never played before, will there be someone to help guide me?

For our Cucumber league, we will have our League Lead available for any questions and can provide helpful, beginner-friendly tips as you go.

What if I get injured?

While we prioritize safety and encourage you to stretch before and after physical activity, Y’all Pickle is not liable for any injuries before, during, or after league play. If an injury prevents you from continuing in the league, please contact info@yallpickle.com for a partial league credit

What is Pickleball Etiquette?

  • We hope that you have fun and enjoy both the game of pickleball and getting to know your fellow league mates. We have three rules of etiquette that we remind everyone about each week:
  • Always start the game by tapping paddles (ideally the handles, not the paddle part so that you don’t accidentally damage a paddle) and introducing yourselves.
  • Always end the game by tapping paddles and demonstrating good sportsmanship - win or lose, it doesn’t matter, the goal is to have fun.
  • If a ball rolls onto an adjacent court, give a heads up (i.e. “Ball on”, “Heads up”) and then politely retrieve it.
  • Wait until players finish the point if you need to walk through their court.
  • Respect your opponents and teammates by making fair calls and keeping a positive attitude. Disputes can happen, but honesty and good sportsmanship

What is the attendance policy?

We get it, life happens. If you are running late, please message the group chat. If you are unable to attend, please give us notice via email (info@yallpickle.com) ideally with at least 24 hours notice

What is the refund policy?

We are unable to process refunds post registration, however contact us (info@yallpickle.com) and we can provide you with a league credit.

What if I am going to be late or need to cancel last minute (i.e. sick, stuck in traffic, etc)?

Please message the group chat if you’re running late. If you are not able to attend at all, send an email to info@yallpickle.com.

Why Y’all Pickle?

Translation missing: en.accessibility.collapsible_content_title

How are leagues with Y’all Pickle different from other leagues?

  • We started these leagues because other providers' formats and timing didn't meet our needs. Y'all Pickle is committed to giving you a superior player experience - maximizing your court time while creating a casual, social pickleball community.
  • Some leagues book teams back to back in a four hour timeslot and you end up getting really late games (some with start times past 9 pm). Your timeslot is fully yours and will not change week to week. None of our leagues start past 7 PM.
  • Unlike other providers, you get a full two hours with both scored, matched games and open play to mix it up and get to know your league mates.
  • Lastly, we are the only league provider that is truly made for Austin pickleball players, by Austin pickleball players and our apparel brand is directly influenced by our players. We hope to spoil you with discounts, swag, and more!

What can I expect from the Y’all Pickle team?

We want to make this your best league experience so please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or provide your feedback in our survey. Our team checks our email inbox and surveys daily so we will do our best to respond to you ASAP.
